This has been a long time coming. I have spent the last several months debating about starting a blog. Primarily because I am terrible at disciplined writing. I simply don’t like to do it. However, so many people ask me many of the same questions that I feel it is probably better for me and for you that I actually capture my thoughts in an online forum so that we can all move to the next level of dialogue. I am often asked about investments I’ve made, founders I’ve met, and things I’ve heard. This is a place to discuss all of those topics and more. I won’t be the one providing all of the content. I will invite others to provide guest posts. It doesn’t make sense to try to be the sole source of all information, where’s the fun in that? When I talk about new investments, I will always provide you with some background on how the deal got done so that you can see firsthand what role the founder/investor relationship plays in that ultimate result.
So with that, welcome to Straight Talk VC. Eventually, I hope this becomes a place for you to fully understand the venture world and to feel free to seek the real answers to questions that others may not be willing to unravel. Venture capital can be a very frustrating place to reside as an entrepreneur and/or as an investor. Much of that frustration comes from an inability for the two groups to communicate in terms that both fully understand and appreciate.
Perhaps Straight Talk VC can be a place where that happens…but then that really depends on who is reading and commenting more so than who is writing. Let’s test the waters and see what happens together!
